Extract from an autobiography. Name the player and the book.

“When Germany was four goals down, a ball hit Allen's pad and rebounded. The Germans took full advantage of this and made a rush, netting the ball before we could stop it. India's goal-getters were Roop Singh, Tapsell and Jaffar with one each, Dara two and myself three “.

Estádio do Maracanã is one of the most iconic football grounds in the world. It is one of the crown jewels of Rio de Janerio. It hosts Brazil’s important matches and is on track to host the World Cup Final in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.

The stadium however, is falling apart. Over decades of gradual damage has corroded the stadium so much that it now has severe structural damage.

What specific reason has caused this damage at the Maracana?

2

The fans wont stop peeing on it.

To avoid standing in long lines to the bathroom, fans often relieve themselves on whatever crucial support structure happens to be closest by.

Explanation for what?

X were officially banned from polo in the mid-1930s for safety reasons, but the restriction was relaxed after World War II when polo players of any persuasion were a scarce lot. The USPA reinstated the X ban again in 1974 and it’s stuck: there are no more X polo players

X players are often thought to hit with less accuracy, but guide their ponies better than their peers.

8

Left-handed players in Polo

To understand why, consider this: you’re driving merrily down the road when all of a sudden, coming straight at you, is a guy driving on the left side of the road. The panic you’d feel in that situation is just what a right-handed polo player feels when he and a lefty approach the ball from opposite directions.
