Smart Pension
The Dyson Group Personal Pension also gives you the opportunity to save for your retirement in a tax-efficient way through Smart Pension.
Smart Pension works when you elect to trade some of your basic salary in return for pension contributions of the same value. Your basic salary will be reduced by the value of the pension contributions you elect and these contributions become a benefit that the company funds on your behalf. The advantage of this is that as well as Income Tax savings, you are likely
to also make savings in relation to National Insurance Contributions, which could mean an increase to your take-home pay.
Smart Pension is a change to your terms and conditions with regards to your pay and benefits.
Under the Smart Pension plan, both Dyson pension members and Dyson make National Insurance (NI) savings. Dyson employees keep the savings they make and Dyson also shares 50% of the NI savings it makes and passes this onto employees.

arranging your pensionstep 2 – existing pensions

arranging your pensionstep 3 – investment
The next stage requires you to set up your investment choices. You can either choose the plan default fund or make your own investment selections.
Investment approach 1: The Default FundIf you do not wish to select a fund yourself there is a default fund available (this fund is designed to suit the needs of the ‘average’ member). If you confirm that you want to invest in the default fund by selecting ‘Yes’ and clicking ‘Confirm’ you will then be taken to the ‘Investment: Default Fund’ confirmation page. Once you’ve selected ‘Confirm’ you will then be taken to the Pension Modeller page, see Step 5.
Investment approach 2: Choosing your own investment fund(s)If you decide to choose your own investment fund(s), you will be taken to a risk profiler questionnaire designed to
help you assess your attitude to risk. When completed, click ‘Confirm’ and a new screen will appear providing you with information on your attitude to risk. If the statement applies to you simply click ‘Confirm’. If you feel that the statement does not apply to you and there is another more fitting category, you can change the highlighted button and then click ‘Confirm’. Depending on your attitude to investment risk, you may be asked a further two questions.Once you click ‘Confirm’ the investment options suited to your risk profile will appear and you will be able to make your fund selections.

Using the sliding bars, you can see how changing your pension contributions and/or your target retirement date will affect your projected retirement income. If you have a target retirement income in mind, the modeller will calculate the contribution level needed to meet your target.
