I am glad that the ECE dept. is starting a news letter. I understand that the newsletter will provide information about
the various activities and achievements of the staff, students and of the dept., and also enlighten the students about
placement details and other academic issues. I believe that such an initiative can provide a number of benefits to the
student community. The newsletter, I trust, will also cover the major achievements of other students of the college,
project the activities of students during the seminar periods, interesting projects in the dept., and write-ups on the prize
winners in various important technical festivals, and about successful alumni of the ECED. With such coverage, the
newsletter will help in better awareness and enthusiasm of students about the technology and trend, while also promot-
ing fraternity abound the students of the discipline.
On my behalf and on behalf of the management, I extend the best wishes for the successful publication of the first issue of the newsletter, as
well as for its continuance in a way that the student community will look forward to each issue in the future.

E-LABS is a technical club formed by the students of ECE to improve upon their technical and practical approaches
towards engineering technology especially in the fields of electronics & communication. The club is headed by the HOD of ECE
Dept with Sri. DVSR Sesidhar, Asst. Prof. as the Faculty Adviser. The main theme of the club is a MENTOR-LEARNER
program by which any student who has learned a technique can share it with other members of the club. In this process the
MENTOR will improve his knowledge and the ability to express ideas while the others will learn about new technologies. The
club emphasizes on development of new projects and ensures that its members are provided with all the requirements to complete
these projects successfully.
As a part of the AECES weekly activity, there was formal announcement about the launching of E– LABS on 18th
August, 2010. The first session of E-Labs was held on 13th September, 2010 and the main agenda behind starting it was conveyed
to the members. The session was to make each member aware of the rules they need to follow to continue being a part of the club.
The basic work structure of each member was also discussed.
Goals:
Every member of the club is expected to strive hard for achieving all goals set and also work towards defining new goals
for the club.
Increase the representation of the college in technical events conducted by various other college and institutions.
Develop new and innovative products in collaboration with organizations like DRDO, ISRO.
Make MVSREC a centre for research and innovation.
The members got categorized into groups, with each group lead by a team leader. The team leaders were selected on the
basis of their experience. The team leaders are K. Hareesh, K. Lokender, Pranit Gaurav, B. Bala Murali Krishna, K. Pradeep
leading a total of 40 students. These teams meet once every week and exchange information within the group.
A variety of topics were discussed in the meetings of which, a few are stated below:
What is Robotics?
Classification:
a. Manual Controlled,
b. Semi Autonomous
c. Autonomous.
Electronic components used in Robotics.
Practical uses of resistors, relays, transistors, diodes.
Various IC‟s like comparators, motor drivers, voltage regulators and so on.
Micro Controllers (MC).
Software used for Programming (WINAVR, AVR Studio).
Programming the MC to use it as a processor for making simple line followers using
3 sensors & making edge detectors.
In a short interval of time, the students have leant how to build line follower and maze solver robots. The club is eagerly waiting
to gain more knowledge and fulfill their goals. Let us wish them all the very best.

3. What is US Grads? Why was it
started?
There is a very bad culture prevailing
where in some agents promise compul-
sory admission in some random univer-
sities and students falling for that and
landing in places and problems that they
do not deserve. In order to stop this
culture, some of us who have studied in
different fields in various universities in
US have come forward to form this
platform named US Grads (www.us-
grads.com). Through this platform, we
aim to reach out to as many US aspi-
rants as we can and guide them for free. Our team is into this for the last five
years guiding many students to their
dream universities and we are deter-
mined to help students in many more
years to come by.
We come from different educational
backgrounds in us like engineering,
business, pharmacology, etc. During our stay in US, we have un-
derstood their education system and
the admissions process. We also conduct awareness sessions,
information meetings, discussions and
mock visa sessions with student
groups, for their benefits Our network consists of thousands of
present and ex-students of US Uni-
versities 4. What are the main advantages in
studying in a US University There are many reasons why USA is the
target destination of most of the
students; we have talked to many
students in US and they have mentioned
the following reasons:
Unique education system, Excep-
tional and flexible course work.
Excellent research facilities and Im-
mense opportunities for the deserving
International exposure and decent
Indian Population.
Many ways to finance your educa-
tion: Education Loans, Scholarships,
Assistantships and other forms of
financial aid.
During MS, you have the opportunity
to work as a part of your internship or
the CPT (Curriculum Practical Train-
ing) program. After MS, you are given a chance to
work in the US as a part of the OPT
(Optional Practical Training) program
which can later be converted into a
work visa (H1B) if interested. 5. How to prepare for our admission
and education in USA? Admission into engineering programs of
US Universities depend on 3 things i. Academic percentage.
ii. Any practical exposure (work experi-
ence, projects, presentations, publica-
tions, industry trainings, etc.).
iii. Test scores (GRE, TOEFL/IELTS).
Getting good scores in your GRE and
TOEFL tests is pretty important for
admissions and also to be considered
for different forms of assistantships. Apart from these the student has to
get good reference letters, prepare a
good resume and a strong statement
of purpose. One piece of advice from all those
who have studied in the US: The most
important thing about applying to US
Universities is to shortlist the best
universities based on your profile; it
is essential that you land in the best
university possible for your profile so
that you have a bright career later on
with decent scope in the industry.

Today a good percentage of
students prefer to pursue post graduation
at a foreign university. Most of the US
and UK institutions require you to qual-
ify GRE exam in all graduations except
for Business & Law. It has become a
standard exam all over the world and is
one of the steps in the road towards
success and a bright career.
Here is an exclusive interview
with one of our alumni who runs a
successful consultancy company - “U.S.
Grads”. Read on to find more about
GRE.
1. Hello, tell us about yourself.
Hello, my name is Sai Manohar, I have
completed my Civil Engineering from
MVSR Engg College in 2003; after
which I went ahead to study my MS
program at Oklahoma State University.
After few years in the US, I have ven-
tured into some businesses here in
Hyderabad and I am also the head of
this group called US Grads where peo-
ple who have studied in US come
together on a common platform to guide
prospective students about education in
USA and everything related to that
2. Why MS? How was your experi-
ence during your stay at Oklahoma
State University
A Master‟s degree is almost mandatory
these days in order to gain more focus
and knowledge in your field of interest.
When I got a chance to pursue my mas-
ter‟s degree at a school like Oklahoma
State University with World class edu-
cation and Exceptional course work, I
grabbed it with both hands and it was
totally worthwhile. During my stay in
the US for my MS Program, I have
grown both as a person and as a profes-
sional. The quality of education was
truly amazing and the kind of facilities
and exposure that I got there was top
notch. All these factors have made me
realize time and again that I have taken
the right decision by studying in a good
US University.
