Mongolian Women

Sarah Medlin

In Mongolian Society,

Women were granted more variety,

Of the activities in which they could complete,

The ability to conquer any feat.

Chorus:

Subordination was not in place,

Mongol women were allowed to keep pace.

Freedoms granted spanned from marriage rights,

Extended to military plights.

A Mongolian woman could reject a marriage proposal,

The ability to divorce was at her disposal.

Though women often married young

Men sought those up on the age rung.

Chorus:

Subordination was not in place,

Mongol women were allowed to keep pace.

Freedoms granted spanned from marriage rights,

Extended to military plights.

Serving a role in the political realm

Mongolian women could be placed at the helm.

A woman could assume control

While her husband was off on a stroll.

Chorus:

Subordination was not in place,

Mongol women were allowed to keep pace.

Freedoms granted spanned from marriage rights,

Extended to military plights.

Serving as warriors in battles and wars

Mongolian women’s role exceeded just completing chores. After battle ceased

Women would finish off the enemies nearly deceased.

Chorus:

Subordination was not in place,

Mongol women were allowed to keep pace.

Freedoms granted spanned from marriage rights,

Extended to military plights.

Notorious Mongolian women have gained power

Coming in at a crucial hour.

The empire was split and leaders chosen upon Genghis’ death

By his daughter and law, who exuded rule out her breath.

Chorus:

Subordination was not in place,

Mongol women were allowed to keep pace.

Freedoms granted spanned from marriage rights,

Extended to military plights.
