Mise- En- SceneSnatched VS. existing films

CostumeSnatched VS. existing films

Snatched VS. Prom Night

Dark clothing that is scruffy, this represents a stereotypical criminal because in majority of films the antagonist is usual dressed in scruffy clothing.

Face partially blocked. However in Snatched this is done through the use of the hood where as in Prom Night this is done through the antagonist’s hair and the dark lightening which creates a shadow.

Snatched VS. Prom Night

The fact that both characters are wearing tracksuit bottoms represents youth as teenagers are often associated with tracksuits.

Both young characters are wearing hoodies. Like wearing tracksuits this represents youth as teenagers are often associated hoodies.

Location Snatched VS. existing films

Snatched VS. The Happening

Both locations include trees surrounding grass. This allows the audience to associate to location with an open public place such as a park.

Other people in the background once again establish the location as a public place.

Snatched

0The location of the opening sequence is on a park. The park is represented as quite an old scruffy looking park through the graffiti on the climbing frame and slides. The swing also looks as if it is going rusty and worn out. All this along side the clothing of the characters show that the area isn't the suburbs but it is more of an inner city area. Due to the fact there is graffiti around the park, a stereotype is presented that the characters are in an area where there may be a higher gang rate, or a higher crime rate in comparison to other locations.

Props Snatched

Snatched

Ball represent youth. Football is also associated with teenage boys. Therefore it was a suitable prop as it establishes the character

Once again BMXing is also associated with teenage boys. Therefore it is a suitable prop for the protagonist as is establishes the character even more.

A stereotypical teenager is known to always be on the phone. The phone also allowed us to establish the storyline as it gives the protagonist a reason to leave the park which leads to the kidnapping

Positioning Snatched VS. Existing film

Snatched VS. Prom Night

This is an example where we have challenged conventions. The antagonist is usually central and in the foreground. ‘However’ we have positioned our antagonist in the background, we decided to do this as it allowed us to establish the protagonist more thoroughly as well as establishing the storyline. We still ensured the antagonist was in shot as this also created tension for the audience.
