Purpose of the work and tasks
PURPOSE:
• Analyze ways of reflecting ATC data and introduce questionnaire, that defines best options of reflecting ATC data.
TASKS:
• Analyze requirements of ATC data representation.
• Compare ways of representing data in Aerotekhnika, Indra and Selex automated ATC systems.
• Provide the questionnaire.
• Analyze questionnaire results.
3
Requirements to automated ATC system
• Automated ATC system provides controllers with the whole information about air traffic movement.
• Every automated ATC system shall meet ICAO standards and recommended practices.
• Automated ATC system shall enhance the safety of flights, by providing controllers with information about air movements, flight plans, direction finders and air-ground data link messages.
• Automated ATC system shall provide high degree of automation of the control tasks, with flight plan management tools, automatic flight tracking system, automatic coordination between control position and control centers, safety nets, medium term traffic prediction tools, etc.

Questionnaire description
The questionnaire was developed to define optimal representation of different ATC data, that is represented in ATC monitor. The answers result varies in rating from “1” to “3”, where “3” corresponds to the most optimal parameter and “1” represents the least optimal parameter. Then, average rating and variation were calculated by the formula:
Where Ri - is answers rating, m – number of questioned people. Then average results are set under significance coefficient from “1” – the less significant to “15” – the most significant. Di – is deviation. This parameter shows how much rating coefficients differs. It is calculated according to the formula:
From deviation it is possible to calculate coefficient of variation. It is calculated by the formula:

Recommendations
- More experts shall be questioned to receive more accurate data.
- Data received shall be used to create standards how to represent information in ATC display.
- Questionnaire results shall be used for improving existing automated ATC systems and creation of new ones.
12
Conclusions
- Analysis of standards and recommended practices was performed- Comparison of Aerotekhnika, Indra and Selex automated ATC
systems data representation was performed- Questionnaire that defines optimal design was created- The questionnaire results define what design elements are proper
and what design elements shall be further explored
