FAST, EASY, SAFE RELINING
Whether your grinding mill is a large ball or
rod mill, semi-autogenous or autogenous,
you can reline your mill faster, easier, and
safer with PaR Systems’ mill liner handlers.
PaR understands your mill lining
requirements; since 1961, PaR has been
designing and installing liner handlers
world-wide.
PaR offers a standard range of mill liner
handlers to fit your application; from the
MLH 123 which is designed for 36-inch
trunnion openings and loads up to 2,000
pounds, to the MLH 1023 with a wrist
capacity of 10,000 pounds. Even larger
capacity handlers are available upon
request.
ON-TIME DELIVERY
PaR can deliver your mill liner handler with
your unique requirements to fit your
schedule.
ASSEMBLY NOT REQUIRED
PaR mill liner handlers are delivered fully
assembled. The operator’s seat is typically
mounted on the boom. Depending on the
configuration, the hydraulic grapple lifts,
tilts, and orients a liner for aligning and
bolting into position. As old liners are freed
from the mill, they are hydraulically lifted
and placed on the handler’s roller
conveyor/cart. The conveyor/cart transfers
old liners outside and brings new liners
inside.
The operator usually relines two or three
rows below the horizontal and above the
charge level before inching the mill to the
next two or three rows to be relined. The
knuckled boom and 360-degree boom
rotation make it easy to reline both sides of
the mill before inching the mill to the next
few rows to be relined.

DESIGN BENEFITS
• The MLH 123 trolley-mounted boom and grapple provide exact positioning of liners against the mill. The MLH
523 and MLH 1023 accomplish the same task, but the boom is fixed to the end of the beam.
• The outside support stand and the inside runway support roller add to the handler’s structural rigidity and
boom control. Slide pads are used on high capacity machines.
• The boom’s extended reach and freedom to rotate 360 degrees allow 180 degrees of the mill to be relined
without repositioning the mill.
• All mill liner handlers come standard with manually operated hydraulic controls, with optional proportional
joystick controls available.
• All control circuits are equipped with ground fault protectors for worker safety.
• Load-supporting hydraulics are fitted with velocity fuses to lock motion in the event of a line break.
• Solid rubber tires provide sure traction for maneuvering on uneven floors and around obstructions.

FIVE MODELS OF MILL LINER HANDLERS
The MLH 123 at 2,000-lb. capacity is used in large diameter rod and ball mills with trunnion diameters greater than
36 inches. The 2,000-lb. capacity MLH 240 is designed to reline both large ball and small semi-autogenous (SAG)
mills with the same machine. The new MLH 520 replaces the previous MLH 320 for large SAG and autogenous (AG)
mills. The MLH 320 has been a dependable workhorse in the industry for over 40 years, and was designed to
handle loads up to 4,000 pounds.
The new MLH 520 now has a 5,000-lb. capacity due to its redesigned knuckle. Models MLH 523 and MLH 1023
feature high capacity wrists that are capable of handling liners up to 5,000 and 10,000 pounds, respectively. Many
components from the five different models can be intermixed to meet the mill’s unique requirement. A wide
variety of custom stands and boom motions have been developed and delivered over the last forty years, many
which can be adapted as necessary. Larger capacity handlers are available upon request.
DESIGN FLEXIBLITY
In order to effectively install liners, the boom "bounce" must be minimized. The operator cannot finely control the
liner if the boom is oscillating by several inches. The major component of the handler flexibility is the torsional
stiffness of the runway beam. Multiple torque cavities in the runway structure and a design based on the mill
opening and load, produces a beam as rigid as the space will allow.
PaR mill liner handlers are designed for each unique application, as opposed to simply varying the stand height and
the boom length for a particular mill size. The inner and outer booms are adjusted to provide the best match, the
stands are adapted to meet the space requirements, optional boom motions are provided, and a range of options
are available to meet specific customer requirements.
PaR has provided a wide variety of stands for special applications; 12-foot wide
stands have been used to bridge discharge sumps. When overhead crane
access is available, the rear drive wheel and front wheels are replaced
with wheels that ride on the feed chute rails. The handler is then
lowered onto the feed chute rails and pushed into position
by a fork lift. PaR works with its clients to customize a
solution to satisfy any space constraints.
