3D perspectives in and out of the cinema
3D is here to stay... Why?
• 3D experience is now very good. Many suppliers.
• Quality of 3D glasses will keep improving
• Shooting & projection equipment will keep improving
• Movie directors learn everyday and will eventually adopt 3D and will make it a real added value of the movie experience
www.xpandcinema.com
3D perspectives in and out of the cinema
3D is here to stay... Why?
• Younger generations of movie goers and gamers do like good 3D
• New home TV’s will all have 3D capability
• Synergies between TV & cinema will keep growing
• Alternative 3D (live) content will grow as well
• 3D is part of the digital cinema revolution and it’s just the beginning...

3D perspectives in and out of the cinema
3D is here to stay... but still some blocks on the road?
• Lack of good content providing the real immersive 3D experience
• Up charge on 3D tickets
• 3D projection not always as it should be (not enough light, white spots etc.
• More 3D movies in 2011 and beyond but not enough 3D screens... Product cycles too short...
• Financing . Not much left for the 3D cherry on the digital cinema equipment cake...

3D perspectives - Conclusions
Quote from Jeffrey Katzenberg in the Film Journal:
“Not only do the Studios need to produce quality films in this format, but exhibition needs to do its part to play these films in the best possible way, achieving crisp images with plenty of light.
Only certain pictures should be distributed in 3D, and producers need to realize the time is over for pulling the wool over the patrons’ eyes”
