’AM: The SOUL of FBC Metter: Larger Purpose
PM: Celebrate Recovery/Evening Worship
These are good days to be in Metter. God has richly blessed us, and we have the opportunity to say thank you to Him. As we live for Him, it should give us a desire to have His higher purpose in our hearts and minds. Jesus said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” As a church, our actions will be our response to Jesus and the commands He has given to us. Will we allow Him to capture our imagination? Will we wrestle with the potential impact God can have on our community in using us to accomplish His lasting and significant impact not only on us as His church, but in the lives of those in our community? I am excited about Jesus using us in creating something bigger and longer-lasting than we have ever imagined. Paul prayed, “I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.
Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” As a church, now is the time to engage as we follow Jesus together. It is my desire to be a part of God’s team that He uses for great impact. As we courageously live for Jesus and join together to be a part of something that will eternally last, we can make our life about His larger purpose. As we do, I KNOW the best is yet to come.
