A Message from Father Joseph: “It is better for you if I go.”
Dear Friends,
As we come closer to the Feast of Ascension and Pentecost the Church offers us the Scrip-ture readings on the love of God shown through the leaving of the Lord and the giving of the Holy Spirit. The Gospel indicates that Jesus knows what we need the most and that he did what is the best for us before he left. Jesus says to his disciples: “You are sad that I tell you I must leave you. You are distressed and fearful. But I tell you, it is better for you if I go. For then my Father will send the Holy Spirit who will teach you everything and re-mind you of all that I told you.” Let us think about the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and pray to Him. Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit is given to us to help us grow in the knowledge of God and his love, “The Holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.” How often do we read the Scriptures, but do not understand? Here, Jesus promises us that the Holy Spirit will be with us to remind us of his words, comfort us, empower us, and inspire us. Following Jesus’ words, we pray to be flexi-ble under the guidance of the Holy Spirit so that we may understand his words, discern the truth, and have courage to live out our faith. FYI: St. Paul teaches us that the Holy Spirit gives each of us different gifts, not only for ourselves, but also for the good of our faith communities and others. I would like to en-courage each of us to take part, at least in one, in the ministries of our parish. Regarding litur-gical ministries, this Saturday, June 1st at 10 AM, we will have a training and update for Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, and Ministers of Hospitality at Ss. Mary and Joseph Church. This is for the old and new liturgical ministers. Come and join us.
Peace in the Joy of the Risen Lord, Father Joseph
DEACON DAVE’S FAREWELL WORDS
Dear Fr. Joseph, Fr. Mark and Parishioners of Holy Family Parish and St. Joseph Parish, Mont-rose:
Due to the deteriorating health of our elderly relatives and the need to be closer to our chil-dren, we are locating closer to Sheila’s hometown. We are thankful for serving in the parishes of Holy Family and St. Joseph these past six years. I, as a deacon, have personally enjoyed serving with my pastor, Fr. Joseph, Fr. Mark, and the priests and deacons of this deanery.
Sheila and I will remember you and also your deceased family members in our prayers. Peace to you all.
May Jesus be praised now and forever, Deacon Dave and Sheila Sallen

ABCs of Fostering Vocations V: Visit churches and shrines while on vacation and offer prayers together as a family.
W: Witness to your own vocation by telling stories about how you fell in love. Let the children see the love and care that parents have for each other.
XYZ: The end of the alphabet, but cer-tainly not the end of ways or ideas to foster vocations at home!
MEMORIAL DAY
The Parish office will be closed this Monday, May 27th, for Memorial Day.
** The only service will be Mass at 9:00
AM at Gethsemane Cemetery. If it rains, Mass will be at Ss. Mary and Joseph Church.

Youth Ministry Corner!
We had a great time last Sunday!!! We did a ser-vice project of washing cars and taking orders for Krispy Kreme Donuts at our Parish to fund-
raise for NCYC. We connected this to the scrip-ture passage from Matthew 20:28 “the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
We will continue having youth group after the 10:30 Mass at McAleer Hall next Sunday for a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ, fun games, and pizza. Come and join us!
The Krispy Kreme donuts will arrive June 22nd and 23rd. If you would like to order a box, please call Ally Lundstrom at 224-634-5756 or e-mail to: fortmadholyfamilyym@diodav.org! You can pick up your box before and after all Masses that weekend! It is $10 for a dozen donuts to support our youth attending the NCYC in Indiana this No-vember.
In the Love of Jesus and Mary, Alicia Lundstrom

her husband, Robert. May they find comfort and peace in the love of Jesus during this time of mourning. May his soul rest in peace.
