Top 5 Tips to Maximize Magento

Tip #1: Manage prices globally or per website.

A configuration value allows you to manage pricing globally (update it once per Magento instance), or manage it on a per website level.

Tip #2: Share user account information and address books for all websites.

Although accounts are not usually shared across websites, a configuration value allow the sharing of account information and address books across websites. Your customers can then have a single login across all websites (similar to Amazon and Target which share login information).

Tip #3: Limit promotions on a website level.

When setting up price rules, a configuration option is available to restrict execution to specific websites.

Tip #4: Select a store-view when creating an order from the admin (via Magento’s Call Center functionality)

By selecting a specific store view when creating a new order, your reports and dashboard will correctly report statistics in order to provide greater insight to your stores operation.

Tip #5: Design Exceptions allow store owners to specify an alternative theme for a specific user-agent.

Instead of creating separate store views for user-agents (example: iPhone), design exceptions allow store owners to over-ride design settings of a store view, thus limiting the amount of store views that need to be managed.
