Table of Contents• Addition• Subtraction• Multiplication• Division• Geometry• Practice Problems

Let’s see a problem….

Four ApplesPLUS

Three ApplesEQUALS . . .

How Many Apples Will We Have In All?

TABLE OF CONTENTS

...7 APPLES

4 + 3 = 7Great Job! TABLE OF CONTENTS

Let’s see a Subtraction problem….

Six Pumpkins

MINUS

Four Pumpkins

Equals...

TABLE OF CONTENTSThe Answer is…….

...2 Pumpkins

6 – 4 = 2

Keep up the good work!!

TABLE OF CONTENTS

MULTIPLICATION!

-Combine numbers to get answers by working with groups of items rather than individual items

-In addition you can add 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 and get 8.-In multiplication you can multiply 2 four times

and also get 8. So that means 2 x 4 = 8.

Let’s Try a Problem!TABLE OF CONTENTS

If we have 5 people, and 2 shoes per person, how many

shoes will we have in all?

How Many Shoes Will We Have?TABLE OF CONTENTS

… 10 SHOES

5 x 2 = 10

TABLE OF CONTENTS Nice Work!

DIVISION!

-Try and figure out how many times a number will going into another

number.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Let’s Try a Problem……

Let’s see a problem…..If we have 10 Dollars and 5 People, how many dollars will each person get? Take the bigger number and divide by the smaller number.

÷10 dollars Divided by 5 people Equals….

TABLE OF CONTENTS The Answer Is…….

…2 Dollars!Each person will get 2 Dollars

10 ÷ 5 = 2Wow, you’re good!

TABLE OF CONTENTS

GEOMETRY!In Geometry we deal with shapes such as Squares, Triangles and Circles.

By using our math skills we figure out the size, length, and angles of the different shapes!

TABLE OF CONTENTS Let’s Try a Problem…..

Let’s try a Geometry problem...What is the perimeter of this rectangle with the given lengths?

4 cm

2 cm

How would you set up this problem?Let’s see the answer...TABLE OF CONTENTS

2 cm

4 cm

4 cm

2 cm

2 cm + 4 cm + 2 cm + 4 cm = 12 cm

The Perimeter of this rectangle is 12 cm!

Nice Job!TABLE OF CONTENTS

Practice Problems

• Now lets practice what we have learned…

5 2 = 7 9 3 = 6

13 1 = 14 5 4 = 1

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Practice Problems

• And the answers are…

5 + 2 = 7 9 - 3 = 6

13 + 1 = 14 5 - 4 = 1

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Lets practice some multiplication and division problems.

3 4 = 12

8 2 = 4

20 10 = 2

6 3 = 18

TABLE OF CONTENTS

And now for the ANSWERS…

3× 4 = 12

8 ÷ 2 = 4

20 ÷ 10 = 2
