In the last lesson you learned how to multiply 2 digits by 2 digits. In this lesson we will answer the question: How does multiplying by 3 digits compare to multiplying by 2 digits?

How do they compare?

Let's look at this problem:The Level 5 class at Monticello School sold more bags of rice than any other class. They ordered 17 cases of rice. Each case had 242 bags. How many bags of rice did the class sell?Let's underline the KEY QUESTION first.

Now let's circle the IMPORTANT NUMBERS to SOLVE the problem.
