Opening and Closing Ceremonies
The opening ceremony will be held at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre. The time will be announced at a later date. Teams will attend in their dress attire and line up at the back of the arena by the four main dressing rooms behind the team benches. From there, they will enter the ice from the far left corner of the arena towards the back doors. The teams will be announced as they walk onto the ice and there will be an individual holding a sign with their team name on it. The players will follow that individual to their spot on the ice. Each team will line up in their designated area and will wait for the remaining teams to arrive. Once everyone is present on the ice, the Canadian anthem will be sung. Following the anthem, there will be a short welcome to Prince Rupert by Mayor Lee Brain. Alex Campbell, a Tsimshian Chief, will be welcoming the teams to Tsimshian traditional territory. The ceremony will end with a welcome song in the Tsimshian language. After that, the teams will walk off the ice one team at a time following the individual with the sign. The closing ceremony will begin right after the championship game. The gold and silver medals will be presented along with the championship banner. The BC Hockey Representative will present the Fair Play Trophy. A slide show of pictures that will be taken from the banquet, opening ceremony and games will be displayed during this time. All participating teams will be thanked.

Our committee and community are thrilled to be hosting the Bantam Tier 4 Championships for 2019! We would like to extend a warm Prince Rupert welcome to all players, parents, family members and fans. 2019 is also the year that BC Hockey is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Congratulations!
The port city of Prince Rupert has a population of approximately 14,000. It is located on Kaien Island, which is situated in the traditional territory of the Tsimshian. Founder of Prince Rupert, Charles Melville Hays, was the president of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway Company. He envisioned Prince Rupert as the ideal location for sea and rail travel and marine trade. Sadly, Hays was one of the over 1500 passengers who perished aboard the Titanic on April 15, 1912. Over a hundred years later, his dream for Prince Rupert becoming a world class port has come true. You'll find a statue of Charles Hays on the grounds of City Hall.
When you get a chance, be sure to go out and explore and take in what our beautiful city has to offer. From our cultural diversity, fabulous restaurants and unique shopping. Prince Rupert is in a temperate rainforest, so be sure to absorb some of our world famous liquid sunshine.
