Qualitative study to assess patients and health care professionals on ICT

7 individual interviews and 4 focalgroups

Both patients and health professionalsviewed E-mail based interventions ashelpful but only complementary to face-to-face interventions

DISCUSSION

• Strenghts:

– Intervention based on E-mail send by patient’s reference health

professional

– Possibility to answer doubts in a tailored way

– 12 months follow-up

– Randomized inclusion

– Elevated number of participants and health professionals

• Limitations:

– No feasibility nor usability assessment of the web previous to the RCT

– Elevated number of follow-up loss mainly at three months post

intervention (face-to-face visit)

– We have experienced difficulties in the statistical analysis since the

register system is not habitual and is done by an external company

• Is the project interesting to be published in Tobacco Control?

Is there any more suitable journal?

• Any suggestions to improve the intervention or to improve

the methodology used?

• If it is effective, we would like to be used by primary care

health professionals (for instance by integrating it in the

clinical history)
