Magical Morocco Package 8 days / 7 nights
From HKD19,000 per person
Valid for departure from Feb 8 – Aug 8 Fez – Merzouga – Dades Valley – Marrakech
Day 1 – Hong Kong – Casablanca – Rabat – Fez
Enjoy your meet and greet upon arrival prior to being escorted to Fez via Rabat, Meknes &
Volubilis.
In Rabat you will be taken to Hassan
Tower, the minaret of an incomplete
mosque. Construction of this incredible
structure began in 1195; she was intended
to be the largest minaret and mosque in the
world. Sadly in 1199 Sultan Yacoub al-
Mansour died and construction stopped,
you will notice that the tower only reaches
44 meters (140 feet), half the intended
height. The tower is beautiful comprised of
red sandstone, instead of stairs the tower is
ascended by ramps.
Next head to the Kasbah of the Udayas,
tucked away at the mouth of the Bou Regreg
River opposite of Sale. Construction began
during the reign of the Almohas after they
captured the town and destroyed the original
Kasbah of the Almoravids around AD 1150.
The palace and mosques is named after their
ancestor Al-Mahdi Ibn Tumart.
Say goodbye to Rabat as you are driven to
Meknes, another significant imperial city in
Morocco, under the reign of Moulay Ismail
(1672-1727) this used to be the capital.
First off you will be taken to Bab Mansour
Gate, standing tall since 1732, named after
the architect El-Mansour. Notice the
intricate designs that play with Almohad
patterns, peruse the precious zellij mosaics
of excellent quality. Marble columns were
taken from the Roman ruins of Volubilis
and used here, an amazing sight to see.

Next The Sahrij Souani Bassin awaits, a
hydraulic structure measuring 319 meters by
148.75 meters. The basin is connected to the
water system of the city through terracotta
pipes, a very interesting area to walk around.
The final point of interest for this town is
Moulay Ismail Mausoleum, the resting place
of the famous sultan who made Meknes his
capital in the 17th
century. Enjoy perusing the
series of austere and peaceful courtyards,
specifically designed to create a quiet and
humble attitude for visitors. The lavish tomb
ball showcases the best of Moroccan
craftsmanship.
After your lunch your journey continues
towards Volubilis, the Roman ruins that
date back to 25 BC. Explore this site and all
her wonders, some mosaics are still in
excellent shape. You will be escorted via the
foothills of the Rif Mountains where you
can enjoy nice views on your way to Fez.
Day 2 – Fez
Enjoy your morning meal (breakfast
included) prior to exploring the cultural
capital of Morocco beginning with the Royal
Palace. Intricate tessellating tiles and
sculpting went into many buildings here; this
palace is a great example of good design.
Head to the first ever Mellah built in
Morocco. You will learn that mellah is Arabic
for salt, the word used for a walled Jewish
quarter of a city in Morocco, analogous to the
European ghetto. Here you will discover that
the jewish population was confined from the
15th
century.

University. Founded by Fatima al-Fihri in
859 AD and later incorporated into
Morocco’s modern state university system
in 1963; often referred to as the oldest
university in the world.

process takes place. You can also enjoy a
panoramic view of the entire city up here.

After your breakfast (included) in your riad, you will be escorted towards Merzouga via
Midlet and Ziz Valley.
You will first pass the village of Ifran, a
beautiful mountain village known as the
Switzerland of Morocco. Stop off at the cedar
forest tucked away in the middle of the great
Atlas Mountains. During this journey you’ll
catch glimpses of the Middle Atlas and the
Higher Atlas Mountains, truly incredible
sights of nature.
The next village you will stop by shall be
Azrou, the largest Berber village in Morocco.
If you are lucky and perceptive you may be
able to see the elusive Barbary Apes sometimes found within the forest.
Continue onwards to Midelt past magnificent hills and the mountains of the Atlas. You will
pass through the fascinating Tiz Ntalgahmt Pass and the Ziz Gorge, notice how the scenery
changes to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city of Errachidia. Here you will stop
for lunch; it is easy to appreciate the local Berber hospitality. Once you are ready travel along
the amazing Ziz Valley on the way to Rissani and Erfoud. Panoramic views on the way are
absolutely stunning.
You will arrive in Merzouga by the afternoon and shall be welcomed with a glass of mint tea
prior to checking in to your riad.
Day 4 – Merzouga

Berber handicrafts are priced lower in
comparison to the big cities.
In the afternoon you will mount a camel
with our assistance and be taught and guided by an experienced teacher with whom you shall
explore the Sand Sea of Merzouga.
End the day with a peacefully pristine sunset over the golden dunes; you shall peacefully
spend the night at your desert camp.
Day 5 – Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Enjoy waking up to an amazing sunset
before your camel-trek back to the riad. En
route you can look upon the unique beauty of
the spectacular Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes,
watch how the area changes with the light as

Todra Gorge. Welcome to the highest and
narrowest gorges in all of Morocco. Enjoy

Day 6 – Dades Gorge – Air Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech Savor your final morning meal of the trip (included) before being driven through Dades
Valley on your way to Kalaat Mgouna and Quarzazat. We saved the best for last; some of the

Next up is the largest Kasbah in Morocco,
the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. This
structure was built by Et Hami El Glaoui,
who was one of the last Berber chieftains
from the 18th
century. The building is now
used as a house for the Glaoui people.
Continue through the majestic Tizi N’tichka
Pass which stretches over 2km over the High
Atlas Mountains. From November to March
snow can often fall onto the pass creating a
magical looking coating of white, while
other times the sun shines on a beautifully
rocky pass. You shall arrive in Marrakech in
the evening and have a well-deserved rest.
Day 7 – Marrakech
Savour your morning meal of the trip in the
comfort of your riad prior to beginning your
tour of the city. Your guide will ensure that
the most important places of historical and
cultural interest are covered today starting
with the Saadian Tombs. Dating back to the
time of the sultan Ahmad al-Mansur (1578-
1603), discovered in 1917 and restored
beautifully by the Beaux-arts service. The
mausoleum contains about sixty members of
the Saadi Dynasty that originated from the
valley of the Draa River. We recommend
checking out the room containing the grave
of the sultan’s grandson, the stele is in finely
worked cedar and stucco work, while the amazing monuments are made of Italian Carrara
marble.
Next up is Bahia Palace, built in the late
19th
century by those who attempted to make
it the greatest palace of its time. Walk
around the set of peaceful gardens, about 2
acres (8,000 m²) with rooms opening onto
large courtyards.
Once you are ready to continue, you shall be
escorted to Ben Youssef Koranic School.
From 1564-65 the sultan Saadien Abdellah
Al Ghalib finished constructing the finest
mederas of Morocco. Here you will learn
the incredible history of the district that was
restored and given new life from this
building. The inscription near the entrance translates to ‘I was built for science and prayer by

the prince of believer, the descendant of the seal of the prophets Abdellah, the glorious
creatures. Pray for him, I you who crossed my door, so that its expectations are the highest
carried out’.
Enjoy your afternoon meal near the square
before heading to the relaxing Majorelle
Gardens. This twelve acre botanical garden
is very serene and a great place to walk
around, designed by the expatriate French
artist Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s and 30s
during the colonial period when Morocco
was a protectorate of France.
The final planned sight to see is Koutoubia
Mosque, the largest mosque in Marrakech.
Standing tall in the southwest medina
quarter this structure is ornamented with
curved windows, a band of ceramic inlay,
pointed merlons and decorative arches.
Enjoy perusing the large plaza with gardens,
the area if floodlit at night. After your dinner
we would like to escort you to the square
where magicians, story-tellers, tooth-pullers,
food sellers and other interesting local
characters are all around, a great way to end
your final evening.
