Magazine potential photos

I really like the mise-en-scene in this photo. This is definitely one of my favourites to use for my double page spread.

This is another potential photo for my double page spread, as it has a good

amount of space for text. I love the flowers in this image and they connote my genre

of acoustic music well, as it fits in with nature. If I was to use this photo, the houses

in the background would need to be edited out.

This is another good photo that I might use as a double page spread. I like the composition and the mise-en-scene, however the only problem may be the brick wall, as it would be difficult trying to find the right

colour scheme to make the text stand out.

Here I’ve experimented using Photoshop, and placed some text and a heading to see what the overall effect is. I feel that this image isn’t a good one to use as the brick wall does take up a lot of

space and perhaps isn’t a great background for the text.

I’m really keen on this image, as the mise-en-scene is perfect for my genre of acoustic

music. If I were to use this image as a double page spread, I could create an interesting layout by positioning the text around the

subject of the image (girl with guitar). The sky would also be a suitable place to put a large quote from the text as a heading. The only

difficulty in using this photo may be figuring out what colours to use for the text.

I’ve edited this photo to make it black and white. I think this

makes it a more striking image, however I think to make the

page stand out, it would need somecolour.

I used a pencil stroke effect when editing this photo even further. I really like this, however I don’t think it would be suitable for a double page spread, as without colour, the page may look quite

dull.

Although this is an interesting

image and the mise-en-scene

connotes my genre well, I don’t think this is good

enough for a double page spread.

This was taken when just messing around! The composition is effective, but I probably won’t use this in my magazine!

I took this image because I thought it could be an interesting background perhaps for a contents page.

This was a background I found online which would look really nice as a background for some text, again maybe for the contents page.

I want to use this lined paper image as a background for my editorial profile, using handwritten style text, making it look more personal. It also is quite simple and authentic looking which will go well with the acoustic genre.

These few images could potentially be used for my contents page. I love the simplicity of them.

Some more potential contents page images....

These haven’t been edited yet, but I love the effect of the sun flaring in the background. It creates a very natural feel, connoting my acoustic genre well.

I’m keen on using this photo as a thumbnail image somewhere in my magazine. The mise-en-scene clearly shows the acoustic genre and the sepia tones create a natural feel.

I took a few photos of me busking. This one could be used as a thumbnail image on the contents page.

I don’t think these shots are good enough as large images, but they

could be used as thumbnail images somewhere in my magazine.

Using my storyboard as a plan, this photo was taken for a potential front cover image. I think the composition is good and there’s direct eye contact, however I don’t think it’s a striking enough image.

I don’t think this image is good enough because the foreground isn’t in focus and the proxemics aren’t quite right.

I used a lower angle shot for this photo which makes draws attention to the guitar.

Another potential front cover image here. To engage the audience more though I think it’s important to make eye contact.

Again, I think this image would be better with eye contact.

This image was taken a while ago when the weather was much better! The blossom in the background looks lovely but it detracts from the main subject of the image. It’s too busy for a front cover image. Perhaps if edited, it could be used as a thumbnail image.

Here are some more photos I could use as thumbnail images...
