Marriage

• The legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife

• Marriage is also a status founded on contract and established by law. It constitutes an institution involving the highest interests of society.

Categories of marriage

Arranged Marriage is a marriage in which neither the bride or the groom has any official say over the selection of their future spouses.

Both parties give full consent to the marriage.

• Love Marriage is a union of two individuals based upon mutual love, affection, commitment and attraction.

LOVE VS ARRANGED MARRIAGE

Love marriage= L

Arranged Marriage=A

L:

• Love marriages are usually associated with romance, love at first sight and personal freedom.

• Source of strong relation and satisfaction among couples.

• Centered around building a family, adjustment between the partners and regard for the wishes of one’s family and religion.

• Love is believed to grow with time by living together.

A:

• In love marriages, the couples know they are mentally compatible with each other before marriage.

• There is a strong bond between couples which helps the marriage grow.

L:

A:

• Arranged marriages have always been considered more successful and strong.

• It is believed that Arranged marriages are more likely to last compared to love marriages.

L:

• Freedom of choice in Love marriages. The couples know what they are getting into.

• Acceptance test is possible. You can try before you buy.

In the case of arranged marriages, product is sold as it is where it is basis. Product once sold will not be taken back!

A:

• Marriage is forced but with the consent of the couple. However, there is a strong support from both families compared to love marriages.

In love marriages, Family system hangs because hardware called parents are not responding.

Arranged Marriages are compatible with hardware i.e Parents.

L:• Unlike Love Marriages, there is too much intervention

from families in arranged marriage. Love Marriages promote a sense of independence between the couples.

In Love Marriage, you are the PROJECT leader. You are responsible for the implementation and execution of the PROJECT- Married Life

In Arranged Marriage, you are a team member under the project leader- Parents. So they are responsible for the successful execution of the project- Married Life.

• The idea of divorcing is unthinkable. • Lots of benefits of Family support.• If the marriage proves to be a failure,

they have a number of people around them to put seek support or to put the blame on.

• No annoying discussions about feelings.

• Less chances of fights.

She: Do you want me to leave?He: No! don’t even think about itShe: Do you love me ?He: Of course! Over and over!She: Have u ever cheated on me?He: No! Why are you even asking?She: Will u go on a picnic with me?He: Every chance I get!She: Will u hit me ?He: Are you crazy ? I’m not that kind of person!She : Can I trust u?He : Yes..She: Darling!

After Love Marriage:Read the whole thing backwards.

• The most important day of a man and a woman’s life, is the day of their marriage.

• In Love Marriage, couples spend their wedding day with smiles on their faces. In love marriages, they sit awkwardly beside each other for hours without saying anything.

• Same is the case with their first night together. Both don’t know what to say.

• Impossible to tell which is more successful.

• Successfulness of the marriage depends upon couples.

• Couples who are right for each other remain married for as long as they live.

• Marriage is a bond. May that bond never break.
