102 Book Owned by James Buchanan's Brothers (Buchanan Family) A book on oratory, lacking title page but prefatory page is dated 1811. Bears the ownership signatures of Edward Y. Buchanan and George W. Buchanan, President James Buchanan's brothers. With bookplate of Dickinson College (deaccessioned), probably used by one or both brothers at Dickinson. Rev. Edward Buchanan (1811-1895) entered Dickinson at the age of 15, and later married Anne Eliza Foster, the sister of famed composer Stephen Foster. He was pastor of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Paradise, PA, and he and his wife lived at the present-day Revere Tavern. Stephen Foster is believed to have visited his sister there on numerous occasions and possibly wrote some of his compositions there.
