Step 4: Activate LiveNX Permanent license ActivatingthepermanentlicenseisthefinalstepintheLiveNXinstallation.ThisprocessregistersthelicenseandthecomputerwithLiveNXandpermanentlyunlocksthefeaturesthathavebeenpurchased.Therearetwowaystoactivatethelicense—OnlineActivationandOfflineActivation.

• IfthePCrunningLiveNXhasanInternetconnection,useOnlineActivation• IfthePCrunningLiveNXDOESNOThaveanInternetconnection(e.g.,sandboxorlab),useOffline

Activation• UserscanregistertheLiveNXLicensewiththeLicenseTeamviaemail

Note:Afterloadingthepermanentlicense,thesystemwillhave14daystoactivateitbeforeLiveNXstopsoperating.However,theusercanstillactivateapermanentlicenseanytimeafterthe14daystopermanentlyrestoreLiveNXoperation.

4. ClickCanceltoexittheLicenseActivationAssistant.a. Thetemporarylicensewillbeinuseforupto14days.

5. UsinganothercomputerthatdoeshaveanInternetconnection,e-mailyourcontactinformationandthesavedLicenseNumberandActivationkeytolicense@liveaction.com.TheLiveNXLicenseTeamwillthenprocesstherequestandreplywiththepermanentkeyforthenextstep

Load the Activation Key into LiveNX 1. WhenthenewActivationKeyfileisreceived,copyittoalocationthatcanbereachedbytheLiveNX

serverinstallation2. StarttheManagementConsole>selecttheLicensetab.3. SelectUpgradeLicensetorestarttheLicensingAssistant4. SelectIhaveavalidlicensefile,andthenclickNext5. OntheLicenseLocationscreen,browsetolocatetheActivationKeyfile6. ClickFinishtocompletelicenseactivation

Step 5: Download, install and define the LiveNX nodes (optional) 7. NodesareusedbyLiveNXtoprovideadditionalcollectionandprocessingcapabilitiesinnetworkswithalarge

numberofdevices.ThenodesrunonLinuxO/SorWindowsserverandcommunicatetothecentralLiveNXserver.Ifthenetworkdoesnotrequirenodes,skiptoStep6.

a. ReturntotheLiveNXServerManagementConsoleandclickonAddNodeintheNodestab.DefineaNodeNameandtypeintheIPAddressontheLinuxcomputerorVM.Ifdesired,createapasswordtoprotecttheconnectionfileorunchecktheEncryptcheckbox.ClickontheBrowsebuttontosavethe*.nodeconnfile.

Note:IftheLiveNXNodedaemonfailstostartupandthelogshowsanerrorwithsettingthenode-namepropertyin‘akka.conf’file,thenitislikelythatCentOSfailedtostaticallyconfiguretheloopbackIPaddressinthe/etc/hostsfile.ThisissueisOSdependent.Toresolve,typehostnametoretrievethehostname.

i. Edit/etc/hostsfileandtypeinthehostname.

j. RestarttheLiveNXNodeConsolebyclickingonManage>StartService.

Step 6: Install the LiveNX client on end-user Windows PCs or Mac OSX. TheLiveNXclientcanbeinstalledmanuallyorautomaticallyviaJavaWebstart.Theclientinstallationwillalsorequireadminrightsinordertoproperlyinstall.

Client installation CopytheLiveNXclientinstaller(LiveActionClient_<OS>_<VERSION>_setup)tothePCorMacthatLiveNXwillbeusedfromandruntheinstaller.Followtheinstructionsintheinstallationwizard.Theinstallationshouldtakelessthan10minutestocomplete.

InstallingonMacsisthesameasWindowsexcepttheMacinstallerisadmgfile.
