Concept to prototype student project.

Overview

Students will develop fresh concepts, helping them grow as designers and give their own perspective on garment design for extreme weather conditions

Project Outline

• Cohort of five yr 10 students, selected as Gifted/Talented, in the area of Product Design.

• Initial design brief challenging students to create a garment that is original, uses performance and eco friendly materials and is designed for function.

• Primary research of outdoor activity, the environment in which this may take place.

• Research of existing products.

• Creating a Specification.

• Mood boards.

• Initial Designs. • Modelling and testing.• Selection of viable designs to be taken

through to production.

• Field testing and Evaluation.

• Presentations on existing products, garment presentations and analysis.

• Fabric samples/swatches.

• Technical information on fabrics, their properties and ways of testing them.

• Use of sample machinists for prototype manufacture.

• Patten cutter to liaise with.
