• Figure out your wages by the week and by the year.

• Figure out your wages when overtime is involved.

• Figure out your wages when they include tips or piecework.

• Use rounding to figure out your salary in a pay period.

• Figure out salary for different pay periods. • To know the difference between gross pay

and net pay.

WAGES….Know how much money you have!

Working hard is great, but don’t waste it. Understand how to figure out how much money you have.

• How do you figure out how much money you make?

You need to know 2 things: Hourly RateTotal Hours Worked

WAGES = Hours X Rate

This gives you the total amount of money earned.

For example…..If you worked 8 hours and earned $6 per hour,

you would figure it out this way:8 x $6= $48 earned

You need to know how to figure out your money in a few ways……

1. By the Hour2. By the Day3. By the Week4. By the Month5. By the Year

So you can know what you can afford!

You can’t buy it, until you know you can afford it. Banks will want to know how much you make.

• Full time work is usually 40 hours a week.

• A regular work day is usually 8 hours a day.

• A regular work week is usually 5 days a week.

• You can’t get benefits from a company unless you work full-time.

If you fill it out wrong, you won’t get paid. Don’t make this mistake!!!

Some will be filled out on the computer, so we will practice that.

Always be honest on your timecard. If you aren’t, you could be fired.
