Biography of sultan muhammad al- fatih
Known as Mehmed II was born on 29th March 1432 at Adranapolis, a place now known as Adrionaple,
in Edirne, Turkey.
His father Murad II and his mother Valid Sultan Huma Hatun born in the
town of Devrekani, Kastamonu.
He was the ruler of Ottoman Empire (in Malay, it called as
Kerajaan Turki Uthmaniyah) at the age of 19 and rule for 30
years (1451-1481 )
He was known as the Islamic warrior that conquers Constantinople. He was
given the nick name “ Al- Fateh” means “the opener” as he is the one
that open up Constantinople.
Refresh your mind ! Leadership can be defined as the ability to
influence and direct people to achieve a common goal.
There are three approaches to leadership :
Trait theories
• Based on the assumption that some people are born with certain physical characteristics such as height, appearance, and aspects of personality.
Behavioral theories
• Examines what effective leaders do rather than what leader are.
• Leaders are made not born.
Contingency theories
• Focus on the situational factors influencing the managerial style.
• Determining that there is no one leadership style appropriate in all situation.
Leadership style of sultan muhammad al- fateh
His leadership approaches is trait theories. Means leader was born with certain physical characteristics, aspects of personality, and aptitudes that make Sultan Muhammad Al- Fateh was the successful leader.
• he become as governor of Amasya when he was six years old.
• eleven years old he was sent to Amasya to govern and thus gain experience, a per custom of Otamman rules,
• He become king when he was 19 years old.• His facial expression is certain.
Physical appearance
• Sultan Muhammad Al-Fateh was said that “ in the old times the west attacked to the east but these days the world has changed so I will invade the west from the east to form a single empire a single religion and a single rule over the world., this charisma about his vision.
• Self confident : He believe that, saying of the Prophet Nabi Muhamad (SAW) “Verily you shall conquer Constantinople. What a wonderful leader will he be, and what a wonderful army will that army be!”
• Now he success conquer Constantinople and known as Istanbul

• He know how to do strategy during war and how to conquer Constantinople
• he can speak several language : Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Greek and Latin
Mental abilities
• He is certain, that why all resident of Constantinople believe he will be a great king

Attitude
• he is cooperation because he can cooperation with his army.
• Brave : because he don’t afraid to die
Personality factors
There are many characteristics that show us why Sultan Muhammad Al- Fatih are the best leader.

motivation to his armies.

Sultan Muhammad Al- Fatih is someone that come from trait approach which has
charisma as the leader.
It is because he does not afraid to die
when that time will come during the
process to conquer Constantinople.
GOOD COMMUNICATION
He always give motivation to his armies to achieve
their goal.
COMMITTED TO EXCELENCE
He very committed to
excellence and has high ambition
since young to conquer. Hadith
of Rasulullah and Al- Quran as
guidelines to lead his armies.
FORWARD THINKING
He always keep a secret about his strategy of the war away from
his subordinates because for him that just a secret between him and
Allah only.
KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON
He learns about the straegy of
war since he was young. For
instance, he learned on how
to ride the horses, exposed himself to the archery and
learnt how to use the sword in
which all of these are the skills of
the war.
