ERGONOMICS

To unify the Bart and Caltrain ticket system in order to provide seamless, reliable ticketing for all customers, including those with disabilities.

Some of the issues include laminated paper as guides on kiosks, unintuitive interfaces, and awkward function positioning. The solution: a new ticket kiosk that would unify both transit systems.

IDEATION

The goal was to create a kiosk that would be easy to use from the actual kiosk to the user interface.

MEETING STANDARDS

The new kiosk would be based on real ADA regulation in order to cater to the public.

EASY INTERFACE

In order to reduce lines and confusion, I designed a straightforward interface that could translate for both Bart and Caltrain. Both transit systems offer quick tickets for tourists. The ticket itself offers information on transfers.

NEW PARENTS

This project was to target new parents. The method as to create a product that incorporated a soft, fabric aspect, making it a softgoods project. Child care is no easy task; every child has different needs. I wanted to create a product that would make things easier.

Stephanie is a single parent that works about 25-30 hours a week at a small bakery as a supervisor. She works in order to pay for her bills that concern her 11-month-old infant. Her son and is usually cared for by Stephanie’s mother. If Stephanie’s mother isn’t able to watch her son, then Stephanie has to rely on her younger sister, relatives, or friends to babysit. Stephanie’s main concern is being able to spend time with her child, but she has trouble with an ever-changing schedule.
