There are plenty of myths on language learning, most of which are speculations which cannot claim any sort of scientific or logical bases

Learning different languages in the same way i.e. by using the language in one’s own communication

REALITY

Learning a second language is an entirely different process from learning one’s native language.

Older Learners are more effective than younger, as language learning requires more understanding and generalization

Younger children are moreeffective language learnersthan older learners

Foreign Language can be learnt by using it in all subject classrooms, as language learning is a skill developmental process

Foreign Language can be learnt by teaching it in an exclusive class, specially arranged for it

Students from some countriesare better language learnersthan students from othercountries.

Content learning and language learning should go together, as it provides more natural and dynamic learning of language

Learners need a strong graspof oral English before they areexposed to print

Studies show that students from such social backgrounds are more effective communicators, when given opportunity to speak in their own language.

Deficit TheoryStudents from poor economic and cultural background do struggle when learning a new language, as they are not able to use even their mother tongue effectively

Usage of the accurate grammar, not learning its rules, is the key factor in learning any language.( not the terms, but the correcft usage matters)

Language can be learnt only by learning the grammatical rules of a language.
