– 54 staff members have Twitter accounts to tweet about school endeavors

GOAL 2: INCREASE COMMUNICATION

• Strengthen articulation within the school community– KCS Friday Folder transitioned to a virtual backpack

– Piloted the use of Family ID to store and complete athletic forms

– The Bilingual Parent Advisory participation grew as well as having documents sent home translated

– All school community stakeholders were invited to participate in the strategic planning process

– Creation of survey for KHS Alumni

– Redesigning the website for the 2017-2018 school year

GOAL 2: INCREASE COMMUNICATION

NEW WEBSITE DESIGN SURVEY

Mr. Guevara will be sending out a survey within the next few weeks to

help choose a new design for our district website.

GOAL 2: INCREASE COMMUNICATION

• Strengthen the relationship with Union Beach– Bi-monthly curriculum meetings and professional development

planning were held.

– Welcome back unity dance for middle school students from the Central School and the Memorial School was held in the fall.

– Union Beach Freshman for a Day is scheduled for June 7th and Keyport Central School’s Freshman for a Day is scheduled for June 8th.

– Incoming Parent Information Night is scheduled for June 7th.

– Unity day for 8th graders from Memorial School and the Central School is scheduled for June 13th at Holmdel Park.

– Initiated a pen pal program with a fourth grade class at the Memorial School with a fourth grade class at the Central School.

GOAL 2: INCREASE COMMUNICATION

• Publication of Portals – Literary Magazine to communicate student achievement

GOAL 3: STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

• Through PLC work, provide teachers with the tools that will help them use data and collaborative learning to impact student achievement– PLC Consultant Linda Mayer collaborated with teachers and

administrators to support the use of data to drive goal-setting and instructional improvement.

– Coaching and support was provided to support the cycle of continuous improvement

Keyport Special Education Parent Advisory Council sponsored the 1st

annual Touch-A Truck Night for special education students

Teachers, parents and members of the community came together for a fun-filled night

There were art and gardening projects, hair extensions, pictures with the Lego Guy, a massage chair and food

The Keyport Police, Fire and EMT departments brought their cars and trucks for the students to play in and on

The night concluded with the Lego movie and snacks

• Keyport special education students took part in a student leadership conference at Montclair State University.

• The students presented “Identifying Learning Styles” which included handouts for the audience to explore their own individual learning styles.

• Our students attended other student presentations during the day designed to encourage students with disabilities and to provide insight into their transition from high school to adult life.

Keyport Special Education students participated in the Titan Olympics sponsored by Keansburg High School.

The students enjoyed a day of Drama Club Skits, Olympic Games, Team Games, Dance and Lunch.

The student received tee shirts and a certificate of participation.

This was an excellent opportunity for our students to meet new friends while developing appropriate social skills and interactions with peers.

2017 TITAN OLYMPICS

• Google Cohort created in the After School Professional Development Academy to support Google Apps for Education Implementation

– 15 teachers have attained Google Educator Certification

WRITERS WORKSHOP BENCHMARKS

• Detailed rubric scoring provides data to inform lessons and instructional needs.

• Teachers work collaboratively to “norm” scoring and compare to learning progressions.

• Second benchmark administered at the end of each instructional unit.

• Each assessment measures core writing skills as well as genre-specific elements. Growth in these core writing skills can be tracked across units (SGO, PLC, instructional purposes)

READING BENCHMARKS

• Five students in the 2017 graduating class have earned the Seal of Bi-literacy.

• First cohort of the Sports and Health Sciences Academy graduating in 2017.
