Revision and preparation for these examinations can and should begin at home now.
Building confidence and aspirationEvery pupil is aiming for a top grade
(8/9)!
Grades are a ‘ladder’ to be climbed –aim high!
The Power of ‘Yet’ – “I can’t do it…yet!”
Targets are aspirational: ambitious but achievable!
The importance of excellent attendance• It is essential that your child
attends school regularly.
• There is a clear link between attendance and progress.
• Even of few days of absence can have significant negative effect. 2 day absence in a 2 week period =
Persistent Absence
Attendance P8 Score 2017
Above 95% +0.12
Above 90% +0.05
Above 80% -0.06
Above 75% -0.07
NB. The national data for 2018 has not yet been released
The importance of punctuality
• All students are expected to be on site by 8.40 in the morning and in form before 8.45 to avoid late marks.
• Punctuality to lessons is also critical to success as any lateness will result in the student missing important elements of the lesson and disrupt learning for that student and others.
Solution
• If occasionally late, solve the problem by aiming to be in school 10 minutes earlier and then you have time to spare!
Student Planner

StudentSchool
Please check the planner on a regular basis and sign it at the weekend.
Please include any comments or messages you wish to communicate.
Teachers will ask students to record
their homework and assignments
into the planner. Tutors will discuss
targets, progress and
achievements each week.
Students will maintain their planners
as an official document and record
and organise all aspects of their
school life with it.
Planners are monitored by the Pastoral Team and utilised as a source
document for personal statements and testimonials
