BEFORE WE BEGIN...

Tents were spacious and clean (swept and mopped, every day). A maximum of 4 persons were provided each a bed and armoire. Sheets were re-tucked every day with blankets and pillows re-staged.

Food was plentiful, un-processed and all cooked on open fire. There was no refrigeration.

Water was plentiful for drinking and limited for other purposes.

BUILD A SCHOOLInch by inch, foot by foot, brick by

brick!Our task was to finish digging a 4 foot deep by 300 foot long trench to serve as the foundation to a dormatory for the new FTC secondary girls school the community.

After 3 half days of work, we left the project with one work day left to complete. The foundation will be poured by mid-March!

We carried 20 litre containers of water that were drawn from a watering hole shared by community members and animals.

On average, Kenyan mamas carry 20 litre jugs, 4-5 times a day, for a 4-5 km journey each time.

We visited three communities/schools to promote intercultural relations including VMC’s Adopt a Village - Alternative Income Project.

RIFT VALLEY

Kenya is where humanity first evolved. Scientists have found over 230 skeletons of early human beings. This is why Kenya, and particularly a great five-thousand-mile slash in the Earth’s crust called the “Rift Valley”, is sometimes called “the cradle of humanity”.
