We celebrated International Carers Week with our residents who made beautiful flower artwork for our hard-working staff to say thanks for their everyday assistance. Thanks to our management for organising special morning tea and BBQ for the staff.
Sharing the cooking experience and bringing back their happy memories of a time gone by. Thanks to Alexandra and Branka for helping us while making pizza and sharing with others for afternoon tea. Ladies had an amazing time while chopping and layering the pizza base, reminiscing of years they used to prepare meals for their families. Residents enjoyed making pizza and singing at the same time.
It was a beautiful sunny day when our residents enjoyed their monthly delicious BBQ lunch in the Café and served to all of the wings.

To stay safe from COVID19 we have had to cancel our bus outings for the time being but our residents
have been doing more indoor activities in smaller groups, so that we can maintain social distancing and
continue with arranging Skype calls with families to keep in contact with their loved ones. We have
been creating some paper crafts for the coming events.
Our residents love to share their stories about decorating their homes with hand made crafts.
Pluton is a new member of the Kalyna Care family, he is only three months old. Residents are enjoying playing with him. Our resident’s call him many different names but he never minds and continues to make them smile and laugh.
We never miss our Thursday and
Sunday Church Services. Thanks to Father Andrij for keeping in touch
with our residents through live videos.
Our wonderful ladies are looking gorgeous in their handmade crowns.

COVID-19 UPDATE From 23 July 2020, it is mandatory to wear masks in Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. Staff at Kalyna Care are already wearing masks at the facility. In early July, a contractor working in the extension wing external to the facility was diagnosed with COVID-19. Construction work ceased immediately on notification and health authorities were advised. Kalyna Care worked with the builder, State and Federal health bodies and the ACQSC until we were given the clear. Construction on the external areas re-commenced about one week later. Victoria experienced a spike in community transmitted COVID-19 which is deeply concerning. Aged Care homes continue to be at risk due to multiple-workplace employees. Kalyna Care remains vigilant with various internal strategies including staff education and increased disinfecting. We have had a few staff not come to work due to their other workplaces reporting a positive COVID-19 result. We thank our staff who act responsibly to minimise the risk of the virus coming in to our facility. Due to the high risk of community transmitted COVID-19 only end-of-life compassionate visits are allowed at this time.
Please do not come to the facility. We really appreciate your cooperation.
We will continue to provide updates via the website or FACEBOOK.
CAPITAL PROJECTS UPDATE Due to additional COVID-19 restrictions and entry-screening requirements for contractors, the major
extension has been impacted with anticipated project end in mid-December. This is not an ideal
situation but unavoidable. The program is being reviewed with the builder. The staff room and
replacement resident rooms handover has been delayed. The internal works involving the expansion
of the nurse stations in Topolya and Sosna has ceased while we work with the builder on additional
precautions to have separate work groups to avoid interaction between those that work externally to
the facility and those who work inside the facility. The latter requires more stringent work restriction
requirements to minimise builder-resident contact.
Thanks to Brimbank Community for donating handmade blankets and beanies.
The ladies from Delahey Community Centre have put in hours upon hours of
work to knit these wonderful items which have kindly been donated to Kalyna
Care to ensure that no one goes cold this winter. It is these acts of kindness
and generosity in these times that will keep us all together.
Thank You All
