Juan searched in present-day sunny beach Florida. And, conquered it for Spain. He also named Florida after the
flowers in Spring.
FLORIDA
Juan was the first European to set foot on present-day United States!!! He conquered many Native American tribes for their gold
and slaves. Although Ponce Leon conquered the Natives they had an unfriendly conflict.
