Jesus empathizes with us in rejection.

The Problem of Our Brokenness

Jesus and…

The Rejection Trap

Self-Rejection/Self-Protection

Stimulus (I perceive rejection)

Belief that I have been rejected

Need to protect ourselves

Create a barrier

Rejection is self-perpetuating.

The Cure for the Rejected Heart

Jesus alone…

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, so that we might receive adoption to

sonship (or adoption as sons and daughters or adoption as children.)

Galatians 4:4-5

Beloved Children

1 John 3:1

How great is the love the father lavished on us that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!

How to move past rejection?

Living in our identities as children of God.

How to deal with rejection?

Modeling Jesus as He loved and served others.

Ephesians 4:31-5:2

Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander along with every form of malice. Be kind and

compassionate with one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you. Therefore, imitate God, as

beloved children.

Nothing destroys a church more than dividing walls, but nothing restores it more than people operating in their

identities as children of God.
