about us
Kingcome has an outstanding, long term reputation for producing the finest quality upholstered furniture.
Our furniture is handmade in our Devon workshop, only 15 miles from our original site. Many of our loyal and highly skilled workforce have been with us for decades. We are proud to uphold traditional values of personal service, skill, care and attention to detail.
Our furnitureAt the heart of each piece of furniture is a kiln dried hardwood frame, which is hand assembled to ensure dimensional stability and longevity. Fabrics are hand cut, with great care taken over pattern balance, and complemented with precise
matching and sewing. Our upholsterers are true artisans, ensuring that the finish is precise and outstanding.
HistoryKingcome Sofas was founded in 1971 by Group Captain Brian Kingcome and his wife Lesley. It was originally based in a coach house hayloft in Totnes, Devon.
Group Captain Brian Kingcome was a Battle of Britain fighter ace, who continued to serve with great distinction until he was invalided from service in 1954. Brian and Lesley, a former Vogue model, married in 1957. After business success in London, Lesley’s passion for upholstery led to the formation of Kingcome Sofas.
