What is a podcast?

• A podcast is a multimedia file that can be distributed by subscription (usually free) over the Internet.

•Files can be played by anything that will play an audio or video file i.e. cellphone, computer, mp3 player, iPod, etc.

Types of podcasts

•Audio Podcasting – speech and sounds only

•Enhanced Podcasting – audio with images or slides

•Video Podcasting (Vodcast) – a full video with audio

Why use podcasts?

•Professional enrichment– Teaching with Smartboard - Grades 6-

12 Math– Using the Equation Editor in Word -

•Absent student review

Why use podcasts?

•Show procedures, processes, reflective questions

•Student projects - The Adventures of Dr. negative and Ms. Positive

•weekly logic puzzle, lesson review, vocabulary, flash cards, etc.

• Calculus - video• Adding Integers - video• Math Tutor - great for enrichment• Math Grad - short lessons on basic math• Math Factor – math conversations and puzzles• Math Mutation – fun interesting and just plain

Read Your Results

Even when searching for podcastsapps or other items appear in the results.Often a video podcast will specify that in the title.

Save your podcasts

• Search for relevant content

• Click subscribe or get episode

• Go to your Podcast and listen to downloaded content

Downloading from the web

• iTunes shows you that something is being downloaded.

• When finished the numberof podcasts you’vedownloaded will appear.

See your podcasts

• Click on Podcasts in iTunes to see the podcasts you’ve downloaded.

Get to know your iPod

• Hold Switch• Click Wheel• Center Button• Play/pause

• Menu• Forward/back

• Dock connector• Headphones port

Move podcasts to your iPod

• Note:–Sync manually if you use more than one computer.

–Sync automatically only if you are a single computer user.

Move podcasts to your iPod

Drag podcasts to your iPod

Always eject your iPod before

removal

Connect to a different computer

•When you change computers, your iPod will ask if you want to sync – try it. All your podcasts will be gone and replaced with the ones on the new computer.

•Manually managing your files is necessary if you use more than one computer with your iPod.

Getting iTunes

Go to the following web address:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Download iTunes

1.Uncheck the boxes and click the blue button

2.It is unnecessary to put in your email address.

Save the file

Click Save

Save it on your desktop.

Install

•Close your browser window•Double-click on the file iTunesSetup

•Follow the program prompts to install the iTunes software
