Re: Year 8 Elective Selection for 2020
Subject selections will be made online via our EdVal course selection website. To receive all relevant information regarding elective subjects, please read the 2020 Junior School Curriculum Guide, which can be found on the Berwick College website. Personalised Webcodes will be distributed to students on Monday 5th August. The period for selection opens on Tuesday August 6th and closes on Friday August 9th.
To give your child a greater chance of gaining the electives they desire, online selections must be made during this time.

Year 8 Subject Selection for 2020
• The Year 8 Curriculum comprises a group of compulsory subjects together with some choices your child is required to make.
• This is a new and exciting time. Your child will be able to make decisions about what
they want to study in 2020 in the Art and Technology domains.
• At Berwick College, our curriculum is student-driven. We structure our classes based on
students’ choices.
• Subject selections are completed online.
• Students will receive a unique webcode on Monday 5th August.
• Students study eight (8) subjects per semester.
• Core (year-long compulsory) subjects are English, Maths, Science Humanities,
Indonesian, & Physical Education.
• Students will select four (4) units for the whole 2020 year
• ALL Students Must Choose:
• One (1) Technology Subject
• One (1) Art Subject
• Two (2) Elective Choice
• Plus Two (2) Reserve subjects - The above selections need to be made
carefully as students may be placed in these subjects as their main
selections.
• If you are a part of the Basketball or Dance Academy you will select
Two (2) Elective Choice subjects ONLY and Two (2) reserve subjects.

1. Go to https://spring.edval.education/login?logout.
a. Login to EDVAL using your webcode. b. Click Sign In. c. Select Electives 2020. d. Select the relevant stream.

2. Now you can start selecting your subjects – Students must choose One (1) Technology, One (1) Art and Two (2) Elective units. Students cannot select the same elective more than once (elective courses repeat each semester and may only be studied once).

4. Selecting Reserve Subjects:
Students are asked to select reserve subjects. This is in case you are not placed in the subjects
chosen due to timetable constraints, class sizes, teacher availability, student numbers, etc.

5. Click on “Submit” when you are happy with your subject selection. If errors appear, the selection box will turn red.

7. To sign out of the form, click on the student’s name in the top right hand corner and
choose logout.
SELECTING BASKETBALL OR DANCE ACADEMY
If you were in the Basketball or Dance Academy in 2019 your selections will appear differently
(see below).
Basketball and Dance Academy are “year-long” subjects and will count as two (2) out of the four
(4) unit choices.
Students will select Two (2) elective units and Two (2) reserve units
Click on “Submit” when you are happy with your subject selection.
