Career Networking Group at BaisTorah

Bais Torah has started a MonseyNetworking Group for the purpose of pro-viding career guidance, assistance and sup-port for those seeking new career opportu-nities. The group is open to everyone:employed, unemployed or under-employed, with the goal of providing assis-tance to help people build and extend a net-work of contacts; reaching out to those withhiring ability in the required target mar-kets, or people who know them; and finally,helping people to secure jobs.

Guest speakers have been invited toaddress the group, in order to provide con-crete assistance with resumé writing, inter-viewing, and working with recruiters, timemanagement and more.

The first organizational meeting tookplace on Tuesday, February 5, at Bais Torah.Mr. Ed McCabe addressed the group on thetopic of “Key Milestones of an Effective JobSearch Strategy.”

Mr. McCabe discussed job-search strat-egy and tactics that today’s job seekers needto land a position. Four key subjects werethe focus of his presentation: DetermineYour Target – the strategy of a job search;Get the Message Out – how to effectivelycommunicate that you are looking for work;Talk With the Hiring Manager – how toimpress a hiring manager in a 30-minuteconversation; and Interview, CultivateOffers and Negotiate – closing the deal.

The speaker, Ed McCabe, is currently aSenior Consultant, Senior Trainer andExecutive Job Coach at Lee HechtHarrison, and has consulted for the firm forthe past 12 years.

Prior to his career at Lee HechtHarrison, Ed pursued a 35-year career withJPMorgan Chase, 25 years in humanresources, 10 years as Senior Vice Presidentat Chase Bank, NJ, responsible for HumanResources, Public Relations and CorporateSocial Policy. Ed holds an MBA in ExecutiveManagement from NYU’s Stern School ofBusiness and an undergraduate degree inBusiness Management from Saint FrancisCollege, Brooklyn, NY. He also completedthe JPMorgan Chase Executive Seminar atHarvard University and the AdvancedProgram for Human Resources Executivesat the University of Michigan.

Kollel Shomrei HaChomos HoldsAnnual Dinner

Kollel Shomrei HaChomos Reb MeirBaal Haness held its annual dinner for

Monsey, Spring Valley and New Square res-idents. Kollel Shomrei Hachomos is knownprimarily for its tremendous chessed net-work that feeds the hungry, cares for thesick, and helps widows and orphans inevery way. However, the organization’sscope is even broader.

Like the walls of Yerushalayim, it encir-cles Eretz Yisrael’s Jews. From kimpeturinsupport to old-age homes, Talmud Torahsto kollelim for advanced Torah studies, wed-ding assistance programs and money-lend-ing gemachs, there is no need that goesunanswered by Kollel Shomrei HaChomos.

Thousands of bnei Torah daven and learnin Kollel Shomrei Hachomos batei medrashacross Eretz Yisrael. Thousands of poor,including widows and orphans, participatein massive Yom Tov distributions that bringnecessities into poor homes just in time forYom Tov. Thousands of departed neshamosbenefit from an eternal aliyah through theKollel Shomrei Hachomos Keren Kayemesfund.

The melaveh malkah took place onMotzoei Shabbos, February 9, at the AtriumPlaza. The guest speaker at the event wasRabbi Shloma Yaakov Zeida Eichenstein,the Galanta Rav. Divrei brachah were givenby Rabbi Avrum Hersh Wosner, Rav of KhalYetev Lev of Satmar Monsey.

The Gabbai Kodesh Award was given toRabbi Binyamin Gruber. The DometzHisachdus Harabanim Award was given toRabbi Duvid Leib Braun of New Square andMr. Moshe Tzvi Steinberg and Mr. ZviPeretz Bodonskia. The dinner was dedicat-ed in memory of Mr. Yosef Shmiel Kohn.

Bais Torah Announces The Start of Pirchei Groups

Following fast on the heels of their newBnos group, Bais Torah in Suffern will beginnew Pirchei groups for boys in kinder-garten through seventh grade. The Pircheigroups will start on Shabbos, February 23,Parashas Tetzaveh. For more informationabout the groups, contact Mrs.Mendelowitz at (845) 357-1630.

Yeshiva Darche Noam HoldsPurim Drive For Kosher Troops

Yeshiva Darchei Noam recently spon-sored a Purim Drive for Jewish UnitedStates troops stationed around the world.Each grade was asked to collect one fooditem and attach a Purim card to be sent to asoldier. The food and the card will be deliv-ered through Kosher Troops on Purim asmishloach manos. The small packages arean expression of appreciation by the
