Citing and referencing a book

Find the information you need…

Create a citation

First, identify the author or authors

Authors can be a person (or persons) or an organisation.

In this instance, it is an authorTadg Farrington

Create a citation

Then find the date of publication

The publication date for this book is 2009

So the citation will be (Farrington, 2009)

Using a citation

Farrington (2009, p.338) states that 165 million cups of tea are drunk every day in Britain.

An average person will spend £658 on Christmas crackers in their lifetime (Farrington, 2009, p.84).
