Features• GIS uses coordinate systems to represent location

of a featureof a feature– Coordinate system is a grid system with an x-axis and a

y-axis. The origin is where the axes intersect. Feature y glocations are measured in distances from the origin.

• GIS uses scale to represent the size of a feature on a map and the size of the corresponding places in the world

• GIS links features to information using tables -attributes of the feature
