Validate the recyclingprocesses and the

new eco-innovative products at

(pre-)industrial scale

Develop & optimise new cost-effective

construction products through total/partial replacement of virgin

raw materials

Develop an integrated IS Management

Software Tool with a life-cycle and a GIS-

based approach

Demonstrate the new solutions

through 5 different case studies

considering the whole IS supply chain

Contribute to innovative

FISSAC Partners are working on developing the following products:

• Eco-cement and Green concrete

• Innovative ceramic tiles;

• Rubber Wood plastic composites

The new products were produced using Secondary Raw Materials (SRMs) at pre-industrial scale (TRL 6) and their technical properties were evaluated according tostandards, environment regulations and technical documents, previously stablishedfor their validation. Our next step will be the industrial production and real scaledemonstration on six different case studies (TRL 6-9).

• Eco cement – Calcium Sulpho-Aluminate (CSA) Cement (produced by using Ladle

furnace slag, Glass waste, Ceramic waste and Aluminium waste)

• Eco cement – Blended Cement (produced by using Glass waste, Ceramic waste and

Ladle furnace slag)

• Green Concrete – Blended cement (produced by using Eco-cement and EAF slag as

aggregates). Ready mix concrete and precast elements

• AAC (were produced by using eco-cement, Ceramic waste, EAF slag and LF slag)

An important objective of the project is the introduction of a model for IndustrialSymbiosis. For this, a specific tool is being developed and will be evaluated within theproject: the FISSAC Software Platform. It will feature amongst others a Life Cycle based Multiple Factor Analysis, networkindicators and GIS based capabilities.

The Living Labs are ongoing in different countries and each one has its own sectionon the FISSAC website.Their main objectives are to replicate the FISSAC model by promoting stakeholderacceptance (industry, public entities, social representatives, government, etc.).Through the exchange of experiences and knowledge among the different LivingLabs, the partners follow up the replication of the FISSAC model.
