Salsa has a lot of built-in reports, but if you need a report highly-specific to your situation, learn to build one from scratch! In this intermediate-level workshop, we’ll define key terms and explore the broad concepts necessary to understand the report building process.

• Can pull data from across many tables.• Best for presenting data and looking at history. • Results need to be exported and re-imported if you want to use the records for targeting.

Identify what data you’ll need for your report.

• Name• Standard vs. Aggregate• Classic vs. Advanced• Useful tables• Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD)

Step 1: Properties

• Grouping• Functions• Order• Default field names• No axis change, sorry!

Step 2: Columns

Specify what data you need.

• And vs. Or conditions• Operators• User variables• Watch for field names

Step 3: Conditions

Limit what you see (as opposed to what’s returned).

• Sort by• Filter – Limit rows• Filter – Having• Tag filters

Step 4: Sorting and Filtering

View and use what is returned.

• Spot-check• Long-running reports• Troubleshooting• Editing
