DESCRIPTION

If we were to re-score the last 30 seasons according to the “qualifying” format (using the 2010-2013 scoring system), we would see that in most seasons (18 out of 30), three or more drivers would compete for the championship title in the final race (as opposed to 3 out of 30 with a current championship format). Moreover, the competition for the Championship would begin anew several times each season. This would make the races even more exciting for fans—and this, in turn, would be a beneficial move for F1 as a sport and business. Intrigue til the Last Race

What format would make for the most interesting Championship?

The “Qualifying format”

What makes qualifying so captivating?

The results of the first and second sessions are only mid-range finishes,

which are followed by a fresh start.

What makes qualifying so captivating?

What if we extend this format

to the entire championship?

The season will consist of three “rounds.” Like in the qualifying sessions, the results of the first and second rounds are mid-range finishes,

which are followed by a fresh start.

What if we extend this format

to the entire championship?

This way, three or more drivers will compete for the Championship title

in the final race.

A play-off in the Finals

We can hold the third (final) round, consisting of five Grands Prix,

according to a play-off system.

That is, after each race, out of the ten drivers who made it to the finals, the two who earned the least amount of points

must step down from the competition for the title of

World Champion.

We can hold the third (final) round, consisting of five Grands Prix,

according to a play-off system.

This way, the final race of the season will be guaranteed to have

two drivers with identical chances of victory.
