Instrumental Music in Worship

Is It a Sin?

Do we Have Biblical Authority For It?

Everything believed, taught and practiced in religion must have Divine authority!

Colossians 3:17 (KJV)

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

It has always been the same principle when it comes to worship.

The Worship Principle = In order for our worship to be pleasing to God it must be authorized by God.

Matt. 15:8-9, 13

With these principles in mind, who can produce Divine authority for instrumental music in worship?

Scripture?

Example of its use?

The truth of the matter is that the only music that has Bible authority is singing.

Mt. 26:30

Mk. 14:26

Acts 16:25

Rom. 15:9

I Cor. 14:15

Heb. 2:12

Heb. 13:15

Jas. 5:13

Ephesians 5:19 (KJV) Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Colossians 3:16 (KJV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Why is singing a part of our worship?

Because of the command to sing!

(No one disagrees with this.)

So the question must be asked…

“Where is the command to play in any of these passages?

Almost every major denomination today uses the instrument in worship, when asked for to produce scriptural authority, what proof do they give?

“God approved the use of instruments in the Old Testament.”

“Musical instruments are going to be used in heaven.”

“The New Testament does not forbid its use.”

“Same as a song book, chairs, lights, air conditioning”

I Thess. 5:21

Men must recognize the Scriptures as the absolute, final authority in religion!

Men must give up the doctrines and practices, which have been added since the time of Christ and His apostles!

To play instruments in Christian worship is to go beyond what the Scriptures authorizes and is false worship.

It is not a matter of opinion or interpretation. It is a matter of authority.

If biblical authority can be set aside with regard to this issue, why must it be respected in any other?

Will you Obey God Today?
