✤ To find out if I want a group or a solo artist to feature in my magazine I need to research different groups and solo artists within the indie genre.!

✤ I will look at which ones are more popular and the divide between male and female artists in the industry.

Indie Music Groups

✤ Most of the indie groups in the industry are male dominated, even groups that include women.!

✤ This is the same wit the solo artists, there are more men than women. Solo artists are less common within this genre.!

✤ This maybe because they listen to the genre more themselves and so feel inspired to create that music!

✤ It may also be because males play the main instruments related with this genre like the bass guitar and drums.

Promoting Women in Indie Music

✤ As a result of my research I have decided that the purpose of my indie music magazine will be to promote the genre within females, especially female groups. I have chosen this because I think that it is a category within the genre which isn't promoted as much as it should be and it is a good target to aim my magazine at. !

✤ I will be keeping the conventional theme of having a band on the front cover of the magazine but I will have a band made up of 2 girls instead of men.

IMR - Indie Music Reviewer

✤ The Indie Music Reviewer is a magazine which reviews indie music and there was one issue promoting women in the music industry called ‘women of Indie’. !

✤ The issue took a selection of female indie musicians from a shortlist of artists that previously had nominations and awards. !

✤ The magazine is something that will be really useful to try and replicate as i am creating a promotional female music magazine.!
