Indiana’s Premier
Art & Food Experience
Saturday, March 29, 10am – 6pm
Sunday, March 30,10am – 5pm
Indiana State Fairgrounds
Exposition HallIndianapolis, Indiana
www.IndianaArtisan.org
Indiana Artisan is fine oils and fine wines, hand-made leather journals and hand-turned wood bowls. It’s Lake Michigan artists and Ohio River Valley craftsmen, persimmon growers near the Old National Road and chocolatiers of near perfection. Indiana’s heritage in glass, musical instruments, stoneware, woodwork, fine wines and cheeses, candies, brandies and more is defined through this collaboration bringing the artisans and their art, and all of Indiana’s fine food and creativity, together – in stores, in trails you can travel throughout the state and in this room today. Visit a woodshop, a bakery, a watercolorist’s studio and meet the people whose work has been influenced through generations. You’ll leave with something of value to you, an experience as unique and rewarding as the art itself. Your journey begins today.
Twenty Indiana Artisans are demonstrating the creation of their work. Furniture, Shaker boxes, leatherwork, watercolors, oils, stoneware and work in many other media are being created this weekend here at the Marketplace. In the center of the room, Douglas David is painting oils, Jayne Hoadley is dipping chocolates, Sylvia Gray is painting silk, and Mark Cox and Joshua Henson are fermenting vegetables. Talk with them and all the other Indiana Artisan here.
Indiana Artisans identifies, recognizes and promotes the state’s highest-quality art and foods. Its mission includes developing a brand that represents those select Indiana-made goods, now defined by the art and food of 269 Artisans in 58 Indiana counties. Many of them come together only once a year, for this Marketplace. Enjoy your visit, and enjoy more online at www.IndianaArtisan.org.

Indiana’s largest independent alternative news organization, NUVO is created by and for people who love our community, our culture and our environment. NUVO, Inc.’s mission is to empower intelligent, open-minded innovators through storytelling, and it has been telling the story of this year’s Marketplace for the last several weeks. NUVO magazine and NUVO.net focus on Indy’s news, arts and entertainment, music, food and drink, and more by giving Central Indiana Hoosiers the low-down on what’s good. Check out NUVO’s calendar for the most comprehensive list of things to do in Indianapolis, and follow NUVO on Twitter and Like NUVO on Facebook to find out what’s going on in the Crossroads of America.
Indiana Artisan supports and promotes nine Artisans Trails, involv-ing 44 counties and presenting the opportunity for you to visit the studios, workshops, galleries, and stores of artisans throughout the state, meeting them, watching them create their work, hearing their stories, and purchasing work from a new acquaintance. The Indiana Glass Trail is one of those, and it includes Madison County, whose tourism bureau is a long-time supporter of Indiana Artisan. From exciting casino action to live horse racing, from historic theatres and beautiful parks to the ancient Great Mounds, Anderson and Madi-son County also offer great sporting arenas, recreation venues and an array of lodging facilities, shopping and restaurants. Anderson/Madison County’s tagline is “The Fun Starts Here,” and it does.
Radio station 92.3 WTTS extensively promoted this year’s Marketplace and is providing the music from its Collector’s Edition recordings that we’re enjoying throughout this weekend. Every fall, 92.3 WTTS releases the WTTS Collector’s Edition CD, featuring exclusive songs recorded in Sun King Studio 92 and other venues around Indianapolis. Since 1995, the WTTS Collector’s Edition project has raised tens of thousands of dollars for worthwhile causes in Central and South-central Indiana, including the Indianapolis Public Library, Volunteers of Amer-ica, Girls Inc. and Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard.
The Indiana State Fairgrounds sponsors Indiana Artisan in several ways this weekend and through its Hoosier Market store, a new feature of the State Fair, presented by Indiana Artisan and Indiana Grown, the state’s official brands for unique and local foods. Located in the DuPont Food Pavilion, near the iconic Midway arch, the Hoosier Market has featured Frittle Candy, Burton’s Maple Syrup, Inga’s Popcorn, Chocolate for the Spirit, J. Evelyn’s Confections, 240Sweet Artisan Marshmallows, Hoosier Momma Bloody Mary Maker Mix among other Indiana Artisan-brand foods, and in addition to food-related art such as functional pottery by Jan Arbogast Stoneware Pottery and functional wooden kitchenware by Dickinson Kitchenware. During the 2014 State Fair, visit the Hoosier Market in the DuPont Food Pavilion.
