Historical ImportanceThe governor at the time Bernardo de Veiasco dismissed and dispersed his army under is control after thinking that the Paraguayan officials who had defeated the Portenos were a threat to his army. He did not pay them for the 9 months they were there. Before that he was humiliated by escaping a battle at Paraguari that he thought general Manuel Belgrano would win. The last thing that happened was when they asked for military support by the cabildo at Asuncion who were fighting against Belgrano's forces who were stationed in present day Argentina.
