The operator shall provide to the competent Authority a notification

Deadline for the notification of existing installations was July 29th, 2000

Preliminary risk assessment demanded in accord with Regulation No. 8/2000 Coll. Modified method IAEA TECDOC 727 used

Based on this notifications and inspections, the Regional Authority has to classify the installation as „A“ (lower tiers) or „B“ (upper tiers)

Classification results

In the Czech Republic, there have been 70 operators classified as „A“ (lower tiers) and 67 operators as „B“ (upper tiers) - as of 15th March 2003

Operators have to send to the competent Authority the safety documentationDeadline for this documentation delivery for existing installations was January 29th 2002

Insurance

After the safety documentation is approved, the operator must be insured for the losses caused by major accident within 100 days

Public Participation

Safety documentation has to be discussed with the inhabitants in the emergency planning zone and general public

The Regional authority determines the zone and makes relevant information for the inhabitants accessible
