Image Manipulation

This is the original image I took with a Nikon D3 100 camera in a photography studio. I used professional lighting which is why one side of the image is brighter than the other but through Photoshop I edited the image in order for it too look more professional.

Here is the final edited image. I cut out the background as the model has her hair up so the strands of hair which were sticking out were cut away as I couldn’t cover them up any other way without distorting the image. I filled in the background with the colour black so that the masthead and cover lines all stood out against the black background. I used the brightness/contrast tool in order to make the image less bright as the original image was too bright. I also cropped the image in order for it to fit more on the page but also made sure I still had enough room to re-adjust it on the actual page and so the cover lines framed the image.
