ialci  law  of  luxury  goods  and  fashion  seminar  series:  intellectual  property

The   International  Association  of   Lawyers   for   the  Creative   Industries   (ialci)   is  holding   its   seminar   in  the   law   of   luxury   goods   and   fashion   series:   “Intellectual   property:   how   to   protect,   manage   and  monetise   the   know-‐how,   intangible   capital,   brand   image   and   reputation   of   luxury   maisons   and  fashion  brands”.     Intellectual  property   is  an  extremely  valuable  asset   for   fashion  and   luxury  goods  brands;   this   interactive  seminar   is  essential   for   those   interested   in   learning  how  to  best  safeguard  and  leverage  those  rights.

ialci   is  delighted   to  announce   that  Catherine  Palmer,  General  Counsel  at   Joseph  Group,  will  deliver  the  keynote  addresses  at   the  seminar.    The  seminar  will  also  bring   together  different  perspectives  from  legal  and  business  experts.

The   seminar   will   offer   insights   and   practical   solutions   for   protecting,   enforcing   and   exploiting  intellectual  property  rights,  including:

• How  to  achieve  maximum  protection  and  enforcement  strategies,  within  the  constraints  of  a  legal  budget.

• How  to  combat  online  and  off-‐line  counterfeiting  across  a  portfolio  of  brands.  • Non-‐legal  tools  for  fighting  against  online  intellectual  property  infringements.  • How   to   protect   personality   and   images   in   the  UK   and   Rihanna’s   passing   off   claim   against

Topshop.  • A  concise  guide  to  enforcing  intellectual  property  rights  across  Europe.  • Strategies  for  monetising  the  intangible  property  of  luxury  and  fashion  brands.

The   seminar,   which   is   organised   in   partnership   with   Crefovi,   will   take   place   in   the   morning   on  Tuesday  10  February  2015  at  the  Pullman  London  St  Pancras.

Tickets  for  the  seminar  are  €210.    To  book  your  place  and  for  further  information  about  the  seminar,  including  a  copy  of   the   latest  agenda  please  see:  https://ialci.org/news/law-‐of-‐luxury-‐goods-‐series-‐intellectual-‐property/
