Sidney Witter understands how important the first years of life arefor children. Not only is she a momto two great kids, but she alsoLIVES UNITED by giving her time, energy, and financial support toearly childhood education. “Mykids and I had a blast at UnitedWay’s family festival” she remarked, “and I know that volunteering there raised fundsso children succeed in school.”

Jeff Marcks knows how to motivatehis fellow volunteers, routinely asking others to join him in supporting initiatives in education,income and health. Michelle O’Connor and her family are loyaldonors, giving generously everyyear. When these two Pelham residents saw a need in a neighboringcommunity, they didn’t hesitate toLIVE UNITED, donating their time ata local soup kitchen.

For Paul Carousso, Living Unitedis a family affair. At United Way’s annual 5K Run, Paul and his daughter raised funds for healthinitiatives such as Healthy Livingfor Kids which helps thousands ofkids track and reduce their BMI(body mass index) to safer levels.

Through all of the United Way’shealth initiatives, 5,522 childrenand adults worked together to learnabout healthy living including eating well and taking care of theenvironmental health of a community.

This year, United Way worked with supporters like Jeff and Michelle to help1,369 adults and teens work towardslong-term financial stability through jobtraining. At the same time, 267 familiesreceived housing assistance to avoideviction, and 350,000meals were provided to the hungry.

Thanks to supporters like Sidney, 22,820parents and children received informationand training on how children can startschool prepared and have successthrough graduation.
