Urban Life is Metro Herald’sinnovative, award-winning study of‘Urbanites’ – young, full-time workingprofessionals in Greater Dublin.Every year, we will research theopinions, attitudes and lifestyles ofMetro Herald readers, asking for theirviews on everything from currentaffairs to cool brands; environmentalissues to must-see movies; mobilephones to multiculturalism.

What do I getout of it?We’re genuinely interested in youropinions on the key issues of the dayand you can share these views withMetro Herald’s editorial team. Theresults will help to fuel a largenumber of stories in Metro Heraldduring the year. Senator Norris was clear favouritewith 22 per cent of the vote, wellahead of second placed actor ColmMeaney, who was closely followedby Gay Byrne and Bill Cullen.

Five per cent favoured BertieAhern,slightly behind Jedward’s six per cent.Mary Lou McDonald, MiriamO’Callaghan and Rosanna Davidsoneach got one per cent.Despite having a bone to pick with

the French in soccer, 68 per cent ofUrbanites prefer to beat old enemyEngland in the Six Nations rugby,two-and-a-half times those who’d pre-fer to beat France (27 per cent).Despite losing to Les Bleus and our

chance of a Grand Slam along with it,40 per cent of Urbanites still keep thefaith and reckon Ireland can win thechampionship, although ‘it will betough’.And with matches now being shown

in 3D in certain pubs, 57 per cent ofUrbanites will certainly try it at leastonce to check it out, while a further18 per cent cannot wait for the tech-nology to be rolled out fully.Seven per cent said they liked the

idea – but are worried about lookingsilly wearing 3D glasses.The survey also quizzed Urbanites

on the new 30kmh city centre speedlimit: 78 per cent disagree with it.And while they may be inseparable

in sentences by people who like tospout tech buzzwords, Twitter andFacebook are a good distance apart interms of popularity: 84 per cent ofUrbanites are on Facebook, but only16 per cent use Twitter.
