This document provides a step-by-step guide for users to perform version upgrades using the MCE Platform

Preface

Term Definition

Smart Account (SA)Type of an account that helps to easily view, store and manage ALL your assets and entitlements in one location across the entire organization. It also helps to consolidate user access management.

Virtual Account (VA)A sub-folder within the SA that helps to internally organize your assets and entitlements.

Assets Hardware/ devices, software, subscriptions and services.

Entitlement(s)

What Cisco Customers and Partners are entitled to: Right to Use, Right to Technical Support, Right to Software Download, Right to Manage Licenses, Right to Software Version Upgrade, Right to Hardware Replacement, Right to Content and more.

CCO IDA CCO ID is your personal log in for the Cisco.com website. With a CCO ID you can register for trainings, events, programs and promotions and access additional tools and content.

DomainDomain represents business or organizations on the internet. Example, for email address john@cisco.com, domain is ‘cisco.com’.

To access Order Version Upgrade from MCE to order software version upgrade

1.Click on Licenses.

2.Click Version Upgrade to see all the licenses available for version upgrade and go to Create Order page.

You now have access to the Version Upgrade tab within MCE. Version Upgrade allows you to view available upgrades for your Customer account.

In the Create Order page,

1.You can apply filters to find the upgrades you want to purchase.

2.Select Product license to expand and get a detailed view.

3.Update Order Quantity for the required product you’d like to order.

4.Click the pencil icon in the Order Virtual Account column to deposit ordered licenses to a VA.

5.Click Proceed to Order to be taken to the Review Order page.

In the Review Order page,

1.Review summary of upgrades.

2.Enter the eDelivery Email under the Order Details section. Note, this is mandatory in order to receive your order confirmation.

3.Click Place Order to proceed to the DocuSign page.

4.Click Back to return to the Create Order page to edit your order.

Review the document on the DocuSign page

1.Click Continue to be taken to the document

2.Digitally sign the document.

3.Click on Finish to display the Order Confirmation page.

1.Click Done

An email will also be sent to the eDelivery email address provided by you.

To order Version Upgrades from Cisco Software Central.

1.Click on Version Upgrade using MCE.

Click on Product Upgrade Tool (PUT).*

*This will be retired in November 6th, 2020.

After clicking Version Upgrade Using MCE, the users with access to multiple Smart Accounts will be presented with this pop-up

1. Search for the Smart Account you want

2. Choose from the available Smart Accounts listed

1. Proceed to Version Upgrade without a Smart Account (Only for Partners)

If you have access to Service Contracts rolling up to multiple Customer Parent Companies, you will be shown an option to choose between Account View, that uses your Smart Account, or User View, that shows all available upgrades for specific end customers.

1. Toggle between available views.

When toggling to the User View, you will see a list of end customers for whom you are entitled to order upgrades.

1. Select the desired customer parent company name to continue.

You now have access to the Version Upgrade tab within MCE. Version Upgrade allows you to view available upgrades for your customer account.

In the Create Order page,

1.You can apply filters to find the upgrades you want to purchase.

1.Click on Version Upgrade using MCE.

Click on Product Upgrade Tool (PUT).*

After clicking Version Upgrade Using MCE, users without access to a Smart Account will be presented with this view.

1. Search for the Smart Account you want to access

2. Choose from the available Smart Accounts listed to begin the access request

1. Create a new Smart Account

1. Proceed to Version Upgrade without a Smart Account

If you proceed without a Smart Account and have access to Service Contracts rolling up to multiple Customer Parent Companies, you will be shown a drop-down selector.

1. Choose which one you are going to be requesting upgrades for to continue.

Note: This selector will not appear if you do not have access to contracts for multiple Customer Parent Companies

You now have access to the Version Upgrade tab within MCE. Version Upgrade allows you to view available upgrades for your Customer account.

4.Smart Account Mandatory items cannot be chosen without SA assignment

5.Click Proceed to Order to be taken to the Review Order page.
